Saoirse Ronan is luminous in Greta Gerwig’s stupendous take on Little Women. Saoirse has severe competition from Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep in this magnificently cast film. The warmth of the sets and costumes burst from the screen. The rapid fire movement keeps us engaged although the constant shifting of time frames dilutes the emotionality. I would have preferred Alexandre Desplat’s score to be less intrusive. But these are minor complaint in this stunning adaptation.
I’m sure it was wonderful, but ….again???
