Camille Vidal-Naquet’s first feature “Sauvage/Wild” is a gut strangling love story about a gay male sex worker. Felix Maritaud plays 22 year-old Leo with the kind of lived in devastatingly brutal honesty, we expect from a brilliant craftsmen. The film flirts with uninhibited lust and violence with spirts of compassion that leaves the audience gasping. Each time we suspect a cliché on the screen, Camille breaks the rules of cinema with jugular direction. Only playing at the Nuart in West Los Angeles through Thursday.
