A Man Called Otto, showing on Netlix, is an American version of the recent classic film. Tom Hanks does his best in the lead as a curmudgeon. Of course it is predictable that he will transform his coldness anger at the world into a loving human being. I failed to be moved by this sweet movie. Marc Foster does an okay job directing. Hank’s son, Truman Hanks, plays a young version of Tom Hanks effectively. And the transgender character beautifully played by Mack Bayda, helps lift the film temporarily to above average.
