Beauty-Netflix

With Pride month coming to an end, I watched this underwhelming film dropped by Netflix on June 29th. Beauty is an odd film. It feels like a Whitney Houston bio-pic. I found it frustrating that the character of Beauty never sings in the movie—you only see the actress Gracie Marie Bradley moving her lips and the sound is inaudible. It has the vibes of a low budget “B” film yet Sharon Stone plays her agent and Giancarlo Esposito has a blast playing Beauty’s evil father. If you include Beauty’s lesbian relationship, the beginnings of drug use and a possible stand in for Bobby Brown, the memory of Whitney Houston is once again demolished.
