This is the best film Kenneth Branagh has directed. Another glorious example of what can be done with black and white photography. With an exceptional ensemble cast, a Van Morrison soundtrack, spot on editing, and an excellent screenplay, you would think there would be more of an emotional connection with the viewer. Maybe this is just another case of “The Irish Trouble” overload.
