Poem of the Week-Mask of Deception

Masks decimated

My hearing

Without lip reading

I am lost

The mouth represents emotions

That eyes don’t give away

Masks level the playing field

Making us all hot.

Face becomes a mystery

Hair is prominent

Even if length is out of control

Suspense of witnessing the masses

Mask culture wars

Only covers the mouth

Hanging around the neck

Dripping off their wrist

Or missing in action

Wearing of the mask cuts off

Oxygen

Lips suck the fabric

Or the putrid air

Gulp, gulp, gulf

Ripping off the mask

When I return to my sanctuary

Is as good as it gets
