The Fountain Theater usually can be counted on for impeccable acting, directing, and production. This 2015 Pulitzer prize winning play is a troubling mish mash. Spending time with these unlikeable characters is the least of the its problems. The story about a drunk black cop being shot by a white man in the early morning feels like a refreshing take on Black Lives matter. Unfortunately, the threads of sub-characters and sub-plots makes for a frustrating evening. The cop houses his son, girlfriend, and son’s friend. In the second half a mysterious Latino woman shows up with weird results. Again we have an “important” play that doesn’t enlighten us.
