Laura Lippman is back on my must-read list of authors. Her latest Lady in the Lake is a ambitious Baltimore newspaper background mystery. She is thrillingly able to weave a large cast of characters into the story and give each of them a first-person perspective on a chapter by chapter basis. The surprise twist at the end is satisfying. Lippman’s take on race relations and the struggle of women in the workplace is sumptuous, telling, inspirational and always entertaining.
