Poem of The Week-The Battery

The car key battery

Died in midstream

The door refused to open

Plan B manual key

Challenged my uncoordinated

Greasy fingers

Success hurt my brain

Popped freedom

The beeping car door opening

Breathed life

The Camry hybrid respected my wishes

But twenty-four hours later the world collapsed

No key detected flashes

I catastrophize anxiety

My organized day of Oasis lunch

And Comedy Improv class

The hardware search fails

Staring at me is Locksmith Express

The waiting for an opening begins

The 10:00 A.M. bell doesn’t work

Los Angeles traffic rules lateness

When Mr. Locksmith arrives

Seven-fifty is well spent

The miraculous auto opening

Gives me relaxed joy.
