Poem of the Week-Lemonized

My gutted core

Preserved by lemons

Squeezed cuts ooze stinging juice

Salt burns the scabs of memory

Kosher sea or iodized

Slipping under my tongue

Budding tastes

Canker sore white puss

Erupting my mouth

Molars pulling off

Chunks of dead skin

Dousing the throat

With unanswered thoughts

Hiccupping irritating

The mucus lining

Slurping free forms

Masticating large morsels

Track the burning

Bypass the sucking

Heart swept breaths

Bent on awakening organs

Connecting the blood line

Letting the gut blow off

Lemons preserved

Sterilizing anger stems
