Mrs. Wilson

It’s been ages since I’ve been able to praise a Masterpiece Theater series or stand-alone PBS film. I love the actress Ruth Wilson since I discovered her on showtime’s “The Affair”. She plays her real grandmother in “Mrs. Wilson” and brings her brilliant artistry to this fascinating British story that takes place between the 1930’s-1950’s. After the sudden death of her husband of twenty years, mysteries begin unraveling about his life. This is the stuff of melodrama but with Wilson owning this role, you are in the hands of a master craftsman who makes the most authentic and honest choices at every junction. A compelling watch that grabbed my attention for the first two hours. (two more hours will follow in subsequent weeks). PBS recently added on demand so that is an option to catch up before the series continues next week.
