I consider “conversations” the most over used word of 2018. It sounds so politically correct to say, “Let’s start a conversation”. I wouldn’t be surprised if Berkley eliminated debate clubs and made them conversation clubs. As if starting a conversation about race, religion, sexuality, politics is any different from talking or discussing. I suppose conversation sounds more civilized. The dictionary defines conversation as “a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged”.
My other rant is during podcast interviews. Every time the interviewee responds to the interviewer inevitably, they’ll say “Oh that’s a great question or I’m glad you asked that.” It feels like it’s a set script that people follow. To me it’s a meaningless response. I don’t think questions need to be explained by the interviewee.
