Dancing Queen 1976 peaked disco fever
My 24 years welcomed the future
No virus to steal lives
No tribalism
The sweet oxygen made a natural sweat
Studio One twinkled lights
Bell bottoms dragged across the wood floor
I couldn’t find an ache or pain
No projection
Sideburns without grey
Fall to the floor
Without fear
Mouthing words and smiling
Ignoring poppers
Or cigarette smell adhering to clothes
Grilling dance
Buzzing ear loss
Shared urinal don’t splash
Wet underarms stick to my shirt
I cry to awaken from this dream
When we were alive
I started going there in 1978. I would have danced with you !
