Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my favorite directors starting with Boogie Nights. I have loved every Daniel Day Lewis performance going back to My Beautiful Launderette. Phantom Thread was a difficult experience. Challenging but not in a good way. The irritating score drove me crazy until I finally got used to it ½ way through. This story takes place in the 1950’s in London. The story revolves around a famous and powerful clothing designer and a waitress model. It basically boils down to a power play between them. They are both unlikeable and from my vantage point uninteresting. Depending on your risk tolerance you decide whether this is worth your time and money.
