Michael Kearns ferociously tackles musical memories from his teenage years during the 1960s and how songs brought out feminine and masculine parts of his gender. His emotionally gut wrenching renditions of “You Don’t Own Me”, “Son of a Preacher Man” and “The Music That Makes Me Dance” interspersed with life changing stories associated with those songs makes for an embarrassment of riches. Although presented as a work in progress, it is ready for prime time. The show is part of “Thresholds of Invention” series at the Odyssey Theater curated by Tony Abatemarco. Tony is programming blueprints and sketches of theater artists. For more information, check out the website for The Odyssey Theater
