This concert version of the opera Girls of the Golden West written by John Adams is spectacular. Using actual historical documents and the writing of Mark Twain for the libretto gives the work a magnificent poetic quality. Of course seeing John Adams conduct the Los Angeles Symphony was a priceless experience.
