Antonino D’Ambrosio lovingly directed the documentary Roberta for PBS American Masters. I’m not sure I agree with film’s unique take on black women artists who didn’t write their own material and were marginalized. Whitney Houston and Diana Ross weren’t impacted by not writing their own songs. A worthy film with great clips and understanding of this great singer.
