Austin Butler miraculously brings Elvis alive in this frenetic bio-pic. Tom Hanks is unrecognizable as Col. Parker and just when you think his performance is cartoonish and over the top, he is able to strip away the caricature and illuminate this complex monster. Although Baz Luhrmann directs with his usually flourish, his unrestrained choices can border on too much.
