The Northman has it all—elegant sweeping seamless cinematography and editing, an evocative score, an authenticity rarely seen in historical epics, and Nicole Kidman Anya Taylor-Joy, and Alexander Skarsgard. But it is as cold as the freezing locations. Robert Eggers can’t involve the audience with this ridiculous Hamlet rip off. As the film progresses the cliches and overacting come fast and furious. And don’t forget about the excruciating violence.
