The fearless Melissa McCarthy turns in another bottomless dramatic performance (she was brilliant in Nine Perfect Strangers) mourning the loss of her baby and dealing with a suicidal husband nicely play by Chris O’Dowd. This film is contrived, shameless and filled with enough cringe inducing dialogue to cause regurgitation. But with McCarthy at the helm along with supporting actors Kevin Kline and Timothy Olyphant, you may be able to live with yourself if you stick around for the corny ending.
And yet I enjoyed it!
