The brilliant Broadway director Bartlett Sher takes this play and adapts it to the screen with an elegant flourish that beautifully meshes the political crisis between the Israelis and Palestinians in Oslo 1994 with the human drama. Unfortunately, there is a romanticized hope that this type of peace deal could happen again. The film doesn’t address the current situation so it leaves the viewer in a vacuum despite the compelling writing and acting.
