I’ve followed Jean Smart’s career from her early-stage performance in Last Summer at Bluefish Cove through Designing Women, 24, Fargo, Mare of Easttown and now Hacks. At first I was worried that Hacks would be a rip off of The Amazing Mrs. Maisel but after viewing the first two episodes available on HBO Max I was thrilled at the smart dialogue and the way Jean grips the screen with her piercing portrayal of an aging comic.
