Poem of the Week-Village

Parked at the corner

Of Pearl and 28th Street.

The ungated circular property

A four day a week

Identified as

Studio 54

The celebrity infested disco

In 1970’s Manhattan

Before the townhouses

Were built in 1970,

The land was a parking lot

For Douglas Aircraft

The driving path around Village Park

Gives a palm springs vibe.

With manicured rain forests

No street traffic quiets anxiety.

During the pandemic it’s been an oasis

for steps

A day without interference from cars.

But at 2:00 A.M.

A drunk car crashed

bridge crumbled

property had been violated

but still unspoiled
