This Taiwanese film is brilliant. The movie is about a gay man(Chen) who leaves his wife and son (Huang) to be with stage director (Chiu). Chen dies of cancer and leaves his insurance to his lover Chiu. This sets the plot in motion with unexpected turns. The use of flashbacks are organically effective. Hsieh Ying-Hsuan plays the mother as a force of nature using her magnificent acting skills to make the audience laugh and cry seamlessly. The scenes between her and the mother of Chiu that will chill your bones. And when Chiu wildly cuts his hair to look like dying Chen, your insides will explode.
