Book of Longings

The novel explores the idea of Jesus Christ having a wife named Ana whose brother is Judas. It follows the usual new testament trajectory adding a back story with the usual suspects. As historical fiction it works well but as engrossing reading it fails. Sue Monk Kidd took a great idea and then didn’t follow through with a compelling story.
