Although the series won’t begin until the end of April, NBC decided to show the pilot for Council of Dads after the finale of This Is Us. Bad decision. If NBC is looking for another rating and critical goldmine like This Is Us, Council of Dads is a failure. You may shed a tear while you watch this kick off episode. How the family deals with loss will be the core emotional challenge of the show. But there is nothing new to compel me to watch any future stories about this family.  Then again it might improve if NBC gives it a chance after debuting in third place for its time slot.
