Observations: Terence McNally (1938-2020)

Terence McNally made gay plays and musicals smartly comedic and universal. His canon of work stretched my sensibilities with Love, Valour & Compassion,Lisbon Traviata, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Master Class, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Ritz, Andre’s Mother, and Corpus Christi. Nathan Lane, Zoe Caldwell, Audra McDonald, Richard Thomas, and Chita Rivera brought his words to life with some of their best performances. As a gay man I relished these theatrical experiences that helped my emotional growth.
