With inventive direction and cinematography mixed with quirky writing, Briarpatch is a cable channel USA winner. Rosario Dawson magnetically plays a government operative returning to her Texas hometown to solve the mystery of the sudden death of her sister. Even when the plot gets a bit convoluted, the series remains grounded in a sweet artistic space. And when you see the poetry in the animal sequences, you’ll be sold and realize this is a keeper.
