Mathew Bourne’s Swan Lake hasn’t lost any of its power since it premiered in 1995. The erotic dancing sweeps across the Ahmanson stage making the audience gobble each momentous turn. The rich storytelling about the prince and his encounters with the swan is the stuff of genius. Bourne’s choreography never falters with his dancers always being game to fit into his unique vision of this Tchaikovsky classic. Even though the music is tape due to the economics of 2019, you will be chilled to the bone by the score. Costumes and sets are impeccable. Don’t even think about missing this production even though it is only running through Sunday at the Ahamanson.
