What an incredible sound was my initial reaction to Sinkane. His new Spotify release “Depayse” floored me. Nine cuts bridging world music with pop. If this really can be defined at Nigerian Electro Funk then I am famished for these sounds. He whips through the first track “Everybody” with a thrilling abandonment. On the title track the guitar solo is a stunner. “Ya Sudan” has an enticing reggae Beatles flavor. There is a joyous life affirming quality to the songs. This is home cooking soulful music. The combination of unique arrangements molded with his fluid voice and sensational band makes for enthralling listening. The harmony on “Searching” is mesmerizing.
