“Running with Beto” is a documentary portrait of Beto O’Rourke. It covers his failed run for Senate against Ted Cruz. His energy level is through the roof as he juggles campaigning along with being a father and  husband. The film preaches to the choir about the struggle of trying to turn a deeply red state like Texas blue. Whether this will help with distinguish himself from the almost the two dozen Democratic primary contenders is unclear. You’ll admire this inspirational and hopeful candidate. As a documentary no new ground is broken. It played in theater for the required one-week academy award consideration. HBO is showing the film currently and can be watched on demand.
