Armen Ksajikian handles his cello with heavenly strokes. As part of the Laemmle Live monthly Sunday 11-12 concerts, the eclectic program was a magical set of compelling musical feats. Two original work in process pieces were thrilling because the creators were in the audience. Leslie La Barre’s “Armenator” and Gabrielle Rosse Owens’ “Fear Lost” bristled with originality. The highlight of the concert was Haim Shtrum’s “2 Improvisations for Yo-Yo Ma. With a sprinkling of Bach, Omar Fadul, Mark Summer and Sulkhan Tsintsadze, Armen proved why he is a world class cellist.
