Greta is an implausible thriller that needs all the help it can get from the great French actress Isabelle Huppert. A rare English language performance that gives Isabelle a chance to be a rip roaring insane villain. The few contrived screams and jumps feel manipulative and never let the film rise above the fatal “B” movie genre. Inconceivable that this same director Neil Jordan was behind the classics “The Crying Game”, “Mona Lisa”, and “Michael Collins”. And he was even able to pull off a somewhat successful “Interviews with a Vampire”. Hopefully he’ll be back in the game with his next outing. For intense fans of Huppert, you won’t be disappointed.
