I’m not a fan of mysteries. I could hardly watch the first installment of True Detective a few years back. But this is Mahershala Ali’s year. He’s stupendous in The Green Book. The third season of True Detective kinda won me over. Despite the initial standard setup of two kids missing, there is enough intrigue to keep the viewer engaged. And Mr. Ali is such a charismatic actor that it makes for irresistible television. For once the cliched three different time periods that populate each episode works.
