We need soothing during the holidays and this new release of Carpenter songs backed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. “Merry Christmas Darling” has never sounded so haunting as this fully realized version. The subtle arrangement additions will warm your soul.  The clarity of her unique voice is heavenly. “Hurting Each Other” breaks all boundaries of emotional depth. It’s heartbreaking that Karen was such an underrated singer. I melted when I heard The Carpenter’s version of Anne Murray’s class “I Just Fall in Love Again”. The rich symphonic sounds are gobbling up my goosebumps. The orchestra brings all the melancholia  out in “Rainy Days and Mondays”  One of their first releases is the supremely brilliant “Ticket to Ride”. The orchestra mesmerizes this Beatle classic. This is year end perfection.
