Poem of the Week-Thanksgiving

Who do I thank?

God of fate of destiny

Reservoir of family friends loved

Homeless acquaintances

Aching intimacy squelched

Tryptophan is waiting in the wings

Endorphins are longing to

Glutton or gluten free

Matching ghosts haunt the table

Rutabagas turn to rhubarb

Marshmallow yams melt

Hot crossed buns maneuver onion peas

Turkey veins expose dried blood

Cranberry tarts

Gratitude floats in clouded tents

Counting the heritage number

Soaking up strips of fear

Alone together
