I’ve never seen The Purge on the silver screen so was curious what the fuss would be all about as a television series. Mindless sci-fi that tries to rip off The Handmaid’s Tale tries its best to be a late summer guilty pleasure. Without any expectations and a good deal of swallowing inane dialogue you can survive the first hour.  You should be warned that the contrivances and unbelievable situations might wear out some of your brain cells.
