The success of Hereditary belongs to Toni Collette. Her performance rips the scabs of emotion that we haven’t witnessed from any actor in ions. We are mesmerized by her reactive eyes. Her voice turns to a screaming yowl that tugs you off the chart. This spooky Rosemary Baby type conspiracy plot moves at a measured and assured pace by director Ari Aster. I could swallow most of the film until the last half hour when things got too paranormal and flying off the rails for me. But Ms. Collette should be looking at an Oscar nomination if the academy doesn’t pigeon hole her and the film.
