On Chesil Beach Film Review

This adaptation of Ian McEwan novel mostly works as it deals with young marrieds Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle in 1962. The pivoting marriage night sex scene is brilliantly explosive. The actors dig deep in their veins to pull this off effectively. The flashbacks do a fine job of  their background before the marriage. Unfortunately there are two tagged on endings taking place in 1997 and 2007. The goodwill the film provided is diffused during these false endings. The aging makeup is distracting. So 90% of the film is a success and maybe that is good enough.
