At 67 Joan Armatrading still has the chops to grab you with this cd. Her musicality is breathtaking. She breathes live into her conversational lyrics on “Cover my Eyes”. Invisible (blue light) has a flawless arrangement with some light rapping. The title track “Not too Far Away” shows her gorgeous range. I challenge you not to be comforted by the line “Put your head on my shoulder”. “Always in my dreams” showcases her stunning chest tones.
