As I entered the skylight theater for the matinee of The Madres I was skeptical about viewing a political drama about children in Argentina disappearing during the 1970’s. I thought I would be in for a dour preachy few hours. Wow was I wrong. Beginning with a spot-on set that clearly places you in a south American home, you begin this immensely entertaining, inspirational, courageous, timely and yes humorous play. This play works on so many levels as each character peals back layers of complexities. I was riveted from the get go and left ravished in tears by the end. The image of the mothers wearing white kerchiefs will remain lodged in my brain. Hurry and get your tickets because this is going to be one of those must-see theater events.
