Poem of the Week

Barnes and Noble closing on third street promenade

Crown and Pickwick from long ago are gone

Different Light or Sisterhood demolished

Where are you Brentano?

Wiping books from the face

Although I kindle the physical book destruction

Bleeds me dry

Touching the cover that winks at me

Pages of thought cut from trees

Won’t see the surface

Authors unable to congregate at a safe haven

Shrinking knowledge and texts

To flickering miniature screens

Libraries only reflect computers

Crying the civilization change

My reading joy diminished

Due to the intimate physical paper

Touching my greedy fingers starved

For literary justice

I can’t fantasize the past

Unable to relish the scrolling literature

Without crying
