Tom Perrotta has written three novels that were adapted for film or television-Election, The Leftovers, and Little Children. His new novel Mrs. Fletcher is a welcome addition to the cannon of his work. Each of his novels are entertaining and thought provoking. You might want to start with The Leftovers since it deals with a rapture like event where millions of people disappear suddenly without any reason.  After tackling these novels, you might want to grab hold of his other lesser known works-The Abstinence Teacher and Joe College.
