Poem of the Week

Baseball?

Picked last in grade school

Stuck in the outfield

Afraid of shooting balls

Laughed at for being uncoordinated

Closing my eyes

Sticking my thin delicate arms out

50 years later watching hunky dodgers

Beaming with testosterone

Chewing and spitting

Sweating

Caressing the ball

Strutting across the television

Focused pitching

Confusing excitement if they win

Proving that I am butch to my husband

Freeing my mind of sports prejudice

Not allowing to reflect wasted time

Solving the mysterious plays

A new skill learned

A new me!
