Beatnik Girl playing at Theatre 40 Beverly Hills, deals with misogyny, antisemitism, and an unwanted pregnancy while trying to be a Beat poet. Set in New York’s lower east side in 1957. Unfortunately, only the lead actress Rebecca Del Sesto is able to lift the play above routine writing, acting and direction. The other shining aspect of the production is Adam Zilberman, who plays the saxophone throughout the play for background enhancement.
