Joker: Folie à Deux streaming on Max/HBO is a fascinating failure. This psycho drama that Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga struggle to make work, is depressing and unrewarding. Yet still, you watch in amazement at what went wrong with this Todd Hayne’s direction.
