All the colors of the dark by Chris Whitaker has a fascinating and timely premise. While the protagonist Patch is kidnapped, he befriends Grace who tries to help him survive and escape. But for the rest of his life, Patch quest is to find his savior. He even paints a picture of her. Unfortunately the novel is overwritten and confusing because of different time frames. Ultimately the ending is unsatisfying.
