Wonka on HBO Max is an entertaining prequel to Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Timothée Chalamet uses every trick in the book to charm and enthrall. Although the film veers toward cringy and juvenile, the cast, songs, art direction and costumes help overcome that deficit.
