The Guest by Emma Cline is a waste of time. This story about a young woman on drugs who relies on the kindness of strangers to get by, is not enough of a plot, to keep the most forgiving reader from struggling through the blook. Cline may be an excellent writer but she has no clue as to how to make the protagonist Alex comepelling enough to spend time with. One of the worst ending I’ve ever read. If only I had known, I would have stopped reading early on.
