This is only second time I’ve seen The Ice Storm and it doesn’t hold up. Although two time academy award winning director Ang Lee sensitively directs, the stylish direction becomes contrived. Anytime there is ice in the film, the camera focuses on it, rather than the peformances. Sigourney Weaver stands out but Joan Allen, Kevin Kline and Toby Maguire all fail to find the right tone. Elijah Wood and Christina Ricci fare a little better. Warning-this isn’t the best print but you can see the entire film for free.
